But, trust me: there was a time when I’d never associated myself with those 3 words.

It doesn’t seem that long ago that I saw my reflection in the mirror and wondered:

“Where was that woman I dreamt of being?”

There was no spark in my eyes.
No joie in my vivre.
No style in my lifestyle.

Slim?
Ha! That felt impossible. I was 75 pounds overweight.

Chic?
Ha! That was not even a part of my vocabulary.

And, Savvy?
I was too busy pleasing everyone but myself and then feeling resentful and even more depressed.

In a nutshell:

I was weighed down and began a
desperate hunt for a way out.

I read books, created budgets, asked for advice, sought “the answer.”

I tried every diet known to man — low carb,
no carb, high fat, no fat, high protein ...

I attempted to dress better but I often put my wardrobe “on hold” until I lost the weight, so I didn’t have a lot to choose from, if you know what I mean.

I worked overtime as a critical care nurse to make ends meet but there never seemed to be enough.

I read all the books about “how-to” live a better life.

The irony in all of this was ...

The more I tried to fix myself, the
more broken I felt.

So, how did it all change?

Cliché, I know.
(Woman goes to Paris and finds herself ... eye roll!)

But, hear me out.

Growing up in a humble trailer in the Deep South, I created so many stories about myself, my worth and what was possible for a gal like me.

Like so many women, I put myself on the back burner to please others. I worked hard to prove my worth.

I cared way too much about what others thought about me and I let that rule my life.

I tried to alter the shape of my body to feel accepted.

In my desperate pursuit of trying to change my outer world, I became lost in my inner one ... it was exhausting.

In Paris, life, itself, is an art-form.
Over the course of a week in the City of Light, I was absolutely mesmerized by the French culture and how they inject pleasure, style and joy into their daily life.

I realized that there is an art to living.

I was so bogged down in reacting to my life, I failed to recognize that I could create it instead.

So, I started with a simple act of changing the quality of my questions I asked myself to get better quality answers:

What if I get to decide who I want to be?

What if life can be easy and fun?

What if everything I need is within me (not out there)?

What if I don’t need to fix myself but create myself instead?

What if I stopped waiting to do all those things I’ve been telling myself I’ll do one day?

What if I can become Slim, Chic & Savvy?

I began to live in my Sweet Spot
and everything changed

It’s when your beliefs and energy are

Instead of reacting to life my life, I began to create it like an artist.

I began to think, feel and show up as the woman I desired to be.
